Friends of the Valley Railroad Saturday Track Gang

There’s virtually no part of the Valley line, from Saybrook to Middletown, that hasn’t had the Friends assistance at some point. The Saturday Track Gang was instrumental in extending the mainline up to Goodspeed. We even assisted with rebuilding the Goodspeed yard. The multiple bridge projects, 107-lb rail re-railings, crossing jobs and just good old fashioned maintenance all included some Friends involvement over the years. The north end of line beyond the Stop Post was also cleared and is maintained by the Friends, who perform regular inspections to keep nature at bay. 2017 work will continue north up through Haddam.
