Valley Railroad Locomotive 40

The first big project the FVRR participated in was the early-1990s rebuild of Valley Railroad locomotive 40. Built in 1920 by the American Locomotive Company, 40 came to the Valley Railroad in the mid-1970s and served as Valley engine 97’s back-up for many years.

In the early 1990s, when her mandatory 1472 days were up, 40 was brought into the Valley shop for a rebuild.
